Are there connections with menopause and/or HRT use and psoriasis flare?

Yes, there is some anecdotal evidence that the menopause can result in a psoriasis flare, primarily due to changes in female hormones, especially oestrogen.  However, the available scientific evidence suggests otherwise.  A large study of more than 163,000 women published in 2015, concluded that there is no consistent relationship between menopause and/or HRT use and psoriasis. In other words, HRT is unlikely to make your psoriasis worse or better.

That being the case, I think you might be better to concentrate on managing both conditions separately.  If your GP thinks your menopause-like symptoms may respond to HRT, then I see no reason not to go ahead with this. Apropos the psoriasis, you are an expert patient, and you will be more than able to discuss with your GP what works best for you.

I’m not sure if this helps, but at least it might help to reduce any anxiety you may have about possible interactions between psoriasis and HRT use.
