The cause of liver disease is widespread.  The types include alcohol-related liver disease               caused by regularly drinking too much alcohol. Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease caused by being very overweight or obese which causes fat to build up in the liver. Hepatitis after catching a viral infection.  Haemochromatosis which is due to a gene that runs in families.  Primary biliary cirrhosis which may be caused by a problem with the immune system.
