We are not accepting funding applications for the remainder of 2026,
as our available funding is fully committed to supporting existing grant recipients.

For 2027, we are developing a new research call that will continue to support PAPAA’s research objectives. Rather than an open call, this is expected to focus on a limited number of specific themes. Further details will be published when available.

We remain open to supporting research applications as a patient partner or co-applicant. Researchers may also approach us to promote suitable studies and help recruit participants through our Opportunities page.

We also welcome donations restricted to supporting our research ambitions. If you have a suggestion for a project or area of research that you would like us to consider supporting through a grant, please contact us.

Previous grants process

Small grants for psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis research

PAPAA has supported research intended to make a meaningful difference to people affected by psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. As a charity, we have aimed to support research into all aspects of psoriatic disease whenever possible, although the amounts available have necessarily been relatively small.

The information below describes our previous open small-grants process and is retained for reference only. We are not currently accepting applications under this process.

How we previously funded research

Under the previous process, PAPAA considered applications for small, relatively low-cost grants, typically under £10,000. Trustees could also consider larger applications, particularly where PAPAA funding would provide seed funding for a higher-value project.

PAPAA is registered with the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) as a partner organisation. Where PAPAA-supported research is eligible, this may allow the study to be added to the UK Clinical Research Network portfolio.

Areas previously supported

The previous open-grant process considered projects in areas including:

• Seed funding and early-stage studies

• Short-term observational studies

• Feasibility and pilot studies

• Systematic reviews

• Small epidemiological surveys

• Innovative psoriatic disease research

• Psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis in children

• Projects lasting less than 12 months

Trustees could also consider research in other areas where it was likely to provide a tangible benefit to people affected by psoriasis and/or psoriatic arthritis.

Applications under the previous open-grant process were accepted through an online application form. This process is now closed, and the form is no longer available.
