NHS App

NHS England has updated their patient health app, with new features being added.  The NHS is running a campaign to encourage more people to use the app in their everyday lives.

The new features include the use of a barcode, so patients can collect their medications from a nominated pharmacy, instead of needing a paper version. The change is to aid convenience and free up time.

It is said that by ordering a prescription electronically, could save a GP practice three minutes of time, which could be used elsewhere. This apparently could equate to nearly 2 million hours in 2024. It is also estimated that patients should save an average of 18 minutes with each online order.

Other features include  the ability for patients who are waiting elective surgery, to see the average waiting time for their procedure at their local trust.
